3 Week Update!

3 weeks old today! He's definitely growing curious about the world around him. He loves windows, whether at home or in the car.

Time is definitely flying, and I have a love/hate for it. He's gone from looking like a newborn baby to looking like a little baby boy. We did laundry yesterday and I'm wondering how many of the onesies he'll be able to wear again, and if so, for how much longer? His cord stump fell off last Saturday; another sign that's he getting bigger. All in all, I'm soaking in all the attention he wants. We love our little buddy! 💙

2 Week Update

He's already 2 weeks old! My current goal is to enjoy as many snuggles as possible with him so small still.

He's been doing tummy time, and enjoys it! Except when he's ready to eat, in which case he doesn't.

The 4th of July was fun! We watched fireworks on the 3rd with our friends and neighbors, then had a picnic with them on the 4th. He loved the fireworks but was fussy with the heat the past couple days.

My favorite sleeper that I have for him! He will probably never wear it, and only wore it for 2 minutes for me to take a picture of him in it, but gosh it's adorable. Again, it's been hot recently.

His eyes!! Gosh, I can look into them forever. Just like when I look into his daddy's.

After a fussy evening last night, he finally fell asleep hugging me. He's such a sweetheart. He sleeps really well at night, so I can't complain. Best thing I've learned the past couple weeks that we've wanted to start from the very beginning is to keep our marriage priority #1. It keeps us grounded focused, working together, and man, I love John more than I ever have. I am so thankful for his help the past couple weeks. All the glory of our pregnancy, labor, and past two weeks go to God. If it weren't for Him, we'd be lost in this new adventure. Off to spend a bit of time with John before our little guy is ready for dinner!

He is very much daddy's little boy. They've been best buddies since the night he was born. If mama can't calm him down, then daddy can!

We took some newborn pictures the other day, and I think this is one of my favorites. He's been a great sleeper, and we've been averaging 6-8hrs of sleep a night when you add it all up. I am so very thankful for that!

And here he is, a week old! Off to go enjoy some more newborn snuggles.

Quiet Saturday

The past week or so, I've woken up with a to-do list a mile long each day. And today? Nothing. The clocks are gently tick-tocking (albeit out of sync), the sun is out, and the birds are happily chirping. Nothing to imminently do, and I love it. Soon I'll have a little one to enjoy this with though it won't be as quiet. I'll soak every minute of that up though, just like I am right now.  

A Year of Marriage

We've been married for a whole year now. It's crazy to think of that!

We have:

- Grown together
- Prayed together
- Laughed together
- Wept together
- Made more inside jokes
- Gotten lost
- Gone on adventures
- Planned more adventures (we still want to go on that car wash date!)
- Learned more about each other
- Persevered together
- Cherished each other
- Failed miserably at life
- Went through rough spots in all aspects of life
- I learned how to play poker
- He learned how to make the best steak ever
- Celebrated life and losses with those around us
- Made goals
- Met goals
- Made dreams
- Met dreams
- Had goals and dreams that didn't come true
- Learned new things
- Rejoiced together
- Served together
- Continued to be honest with one another and...
- ...Never went to bed angry (two thing we instilled from day one!)
- Simply enjoyed being with each other
- Had a snowball fight
- Made kitchen catastrophes
-  Cleaned up pine tree needle catastrophes
- Gotten sick simultaneously
- Stayed up too late just talking about life
- Found out we were going to have a sweet little boy
- Loved stronger



And the best part is? We are still on our honeymoon. And shall be for quite some time. When we were on our honeymoon, we went canoeing across the lake we stayed at. It was a beautiful day and the loons were out on the lake. As we moseyed our way back towards the cabins, gazing at the water and the mountains, I said "I don't want this to end." So he said, "Why does it have to?" And so, we agreed to stay on our honeymoon for a long time. I asked him recently after going through a rough spot if we were still on our honeymoon. He said yes, yes we are. To us, that means enjoying the life God has given us. Finding ways to cherish the life we've been given. "To boldly go where no one has gone before." We love it!

And so, we've "survived" the first year of marriage! I don't think either of us would have changed it if we could. All the glory goes to God!

April Adventures - Day 29 & 30

Monday, I finished most of the books in my reading pile so I could return them. We also did laundry (yay!) which was nice. I wish I could say I also snuggled with kitties all day, but they pretty much ignored me for their fancy cardboard box house that you see in the background. This was the only picture I took all day, oops!

But the same thing happened for Tuesday, as this was the only picture I took all day. I was finishing a carton of eggs up and realized that there was a bible verse in there!

"This is the day which the Lord has made;

Let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Psalms 118:24

It made me oddly happy to see that in there. Looking back now, I should've keep that close as I got overly stressed that evening and ended up putting myself to bed earlier than usual. Sleep does wonders for that by the way. As does showing your husband your to-do list and then realizing 2/3 he can do for you. Thanks for taking that for me, honey! 💙

And so concludes, my April Adventures. I had considered doing a May series but I think I'll give up for now as the next couple months is going to be busy. So I'll stick with more random postings.

April Adventures - Day 27 & 28

I had quite a drink stash when I had breakfast Saturday morning. The coffee wasn't that great, but the rest was! The muffin was pretty tasty too!

Also got to see one of my friends there. She and I met at the retreat 8 years ago, and since then our group has grown to 6 of us. She and I were the only ones there this year though.

Our bags chillin' by the pool with us while we were temporarily homeless after we checked out. 😉 I love that we coordinated our pillows and bags unintentionally. John picked us up when it was over, and home we went. I received a package from a friend when I got home. It was a fancy pregnancy pillow! That thing is so comfortable. John has dubbed it my "nest".

I realized about mid way through today, I forgot to take any pictures. The brief bit of sunshine this afternoon was really nice! It also made me sleepy, so I ended up taking a nap.

It inspired me to make some good ole fashioned lemonade.

It was delicious! And gave me some motivation to get some straightening done so hopefully tomorrow we can do laundry. I was hoping to watch some Star Trek this evening, but I got side tracked and started working on a pile of books I accumulated while I straightened earlier.
